These terms cover your use of the Atelier application and the theatelier.gallery website. Using either means you accept them.
What Atelier is
Atelier displays public-domain artworks from museum collections as slideshows on your television. It is provided as-is, for personal, non-commercial enjoyment.
Your account
An account is optional; the app works without one. If you create one, it exists to synchronise your saved works and settings across your own televisions. You are responsible for the devices you choose to pair with it, and you can sign a television out at any time from its settings.
We may suspend or remove an account that is being used to attack, overload, or interfere with the service.
The artwork
Every work in Atelier is in the public domain or released under Creative Commons Zero by the institution that digitised it, including the Art Institute of Chicago and the Cleveland Museum of Art. Those institutions hold no claim over your viewing of the works, and neither do we.
Attribution shown in the app — title, artist, date, and source institution — comes from museum catalogue records. Records contain errors, attributions get revised, and dates are frequently approximate. Do not rely on Atelier as a scholarly source.
The Atelier name, wordmark, interface, and original artwork are ours and are not public domain.
Availability
Atelier depends on museum image services we do not control. Collections may change, individual works may become unavailable, and the service may be interrupted. We do not guarantee that any particular work remains available.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, servers, or data
- Automate requests against the service in a way that degrades it for others
- Redistribute the application itself, or present it as your own
No warranty, and limits
Atelier is provided without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes
These terms may change. Material changes will be reflected in the updated date above. Continuing to use Atelier after a change means you accept the revised terms.
