Privacy Policy

Atelier is an ambient art gallery for televisions. It is designed to need as little about you as possible, and most of it works without an account at all.

The short version

• No advertising, ever. No ad networks, no trackers, no analytics SDKs.
• We never ask for your name, address, or date of birth.
• Your art collection is a list of artwork identifiers. Nothing more.
• You can use the entire app without creating an account.

What we store

If you never sign in

Nothing reaches us. Your saved works and playback settings live only in your television’s local storage. We have no record that your television exists.

If you sign in

We create an account and store, against it:

• A randomly generated account identifier. It is not derived from you and cannot be traced back to you.
• The identifiers of artworks you save to My List, and when you saved them.
• Your playback settings — time per artwork, and auto-advance.
• One session record per signed-in television, holding a hashed access token, a device label, and when it was last seen. We store a hash, never the token itself.

Signing in sets one cookie in the browser you approve from. It holds only the account identifier and exists so that pairing a second television joins the same account instead of creating a new one.

What we do not collect

• Names, email addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers
• Dates of birth or demographic information
• Payment details
• Viewing history, dwell analytics, or behavioural profiles
• Anything from other apps on your television

Museum image services

Artworks are public-domain images served directly by the museums that digitised them, including the Art Institute of Chicago and the Cleveland Museum of Art. When your television displays a painting it requests that image from the museum, and their servers will see the request in the ordinary way any web request is seen, including your IP address. We send no referrer information and no identifiers with those requests, and we receive nothing back about them.

Keeping and deleting

Account data is kept while the account exists. Signing out of a television removes that television’s session and clears the locally stored copy of your list. To delete an account and everything attached to it, contact us at the address below and it will be removed in full.

Children

Atelier is not directed at children and collects no information about age. The catalogue is drawn from museum collections and, as museum collections do, includes classical works depicting the unclothed human figure.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the updated date above will change and the revision will be described here.
